DigCompEdu-FyA Training and Certification project in Spanish universities

Date

The next Inspiring Experiences webinar organized by the DigCompHub project is on the DigCompEdu Formación y Acreditación / DigCompEdu Training and Certification project involving 35 Spanish universities, coordinated by the University of Alcalá, the University of Seville, and the University of Murcia.  The webinar will take place on September 12th, 2024 at 14.00-15.00 CEST, and you can sign up for it at this link.

The DigCompEdu FyA project aims to develop a training programme to improve the digital teaching competences of the university staff and propose mechanisms for certifying the competences acquired. The project is part of the national UniDigital Plan and receives funding from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the European NextGeneration fund.

In the webinar, Linda Castañeda, Associate Professor at the University of Murcia, will illustrate how and why each of the achievements and developments of this particular project has been realised:

  1. The University Digital Teaching Competence Framework (MCDDU) which is an adaptation of the DigCompEdu framework to the Spanish university system (currently available only in Spanish);
  2. The collection of 5 catalogues (one for each branch of knowledge: Arts and Humanities, Physical and Experimental Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, Engineering and Architecture) which provide examples of each of the indicators for each area and level of the MCDDU in the professional performance of teachers in their specialised teaching. These catalogues aim to turn the MCDDU into something more than a technical/bureaucratic document and allow for greater ownership by university teaching staff, who can appropriate the MCDDU for their professional development as teachers.
  3. Online learning content to support all areas and levels of the MCDDU. These resources are being collaboratively developed and tested in pilots by the 35 universities involved
  4. A model of the Digital Teaching Competence Certification process for universities currently under discussion.

As usual, the webinar participants can ask questions and interact with the speakers at the end of the presentation.
